Windmill adjacent to the field (Polder) where Roman crash landed outside of Bleiswijk, Netherlands on December 13, 1943. Photo shows one of the ditches surrounding the Polder where Roman hid (“up to my neck in water”) while Luftwaffe spotter planes circled above the crash site. He was thrown out of his flaming cockpit upon impact, further injuring his legs which were also burned.
