1st Polish Armoured division

  • 1PAD Decorated Soldiers - 4,619 names:  List of soldiers of the First Polish Armoured Division who were decorated with Polish, French, Belgian and British medals. Sourced from the book “Od podwody do czolga; wspomnienia wojenne, 1918-1945” (From Cart to Tank; Wartime Memoirs, 1918-1945) written by Gen. Stanisław Maczek (in Polish). The list was compiled by Col. Antoni Grudzinski based on personal diaries of the Commander-in-Chief and Minister of National Defence as well as Daily Orders of the 1st Polish Armoured Division.  The list also appears in  the book "Wykaz, Poleglych i Zmarlych Zolnierze Polskich Sil Zbrojnych na Obczyznie w Latach 1939-1946" published by the  Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum, London, England, 1952. (Note: Polish diacritic letters were used in this list)   Corrected list..

  • 1PAD Casualties - 1,948 names:  List of soldiers of the First Polish Armoured Division who are buried in Northern Europe.  The list includes the Family Name, First Name, Rank, Medals awarded, Location of burial, Country of burial, Date of death, and Alternate Name (in cases where a pseudonym was used.  Courtesy of the pamphlet "Pierwsza Dywizja Pancerna, Polegli na Polu Chwaly w Drodze do Polski" published in 1964 by the Second Armoured Regiment Association in London. The list also appears in the book "Wykaz, Poleglych i Zmarlych Zolnierze Polskich Sil Zbrojnych na Obczyznie w Latach 1939-1946" published by the  Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum, London, England, 1952.    (Note: Polish diacritic letters were not used in this list)

  • 1PAD_1st Armoured Regiment_295 names :   The list is sourced from the 1948 book Pułk Pancerny w Walcy (Armoured Regiment in Action) published in 1945 The list includes the Family Name, First Name, Rank, Medals Awarded and in some cases, the date & place of death (Note: Polish diacritic letters were used in this list).

  • 1PAD_2nd Armoured Regiment_355 names :   The list is sourced from the 1948 book “Pułk Pancerny” The list includes the Family Name, First Name, Rank, Medals Awarded and in some cases, the date & place of death (Note: Polish diacritic letters were used in this list).

  • 1PAD - 8th Rifle Battalion deceased between 1944-1947 - 203 names :   The list is sourced from “Polegli na polu chwały”, published in 1983, about the 1st Polish Armoured Division The list includes the Family Name, First Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Rank, Date of Death, Place of Death, , Location of burial.  (Note: Polish diacritic letters were used in this list).

  • 1PAD - 10th Mounted Rifles Regiment - 1020 names :   The list is sourced from “Dzieje 10. pułku strzelców konnych”, published in Warsaw1982 The list includes the Family Name, First Name, Rank, Unit, Effective Date  (Note: Polish diacritic letters were used in this list).

  • 1PAD -  24 Pułk Ułanów (24th Uhlan Regiment) -  1,170 names :   The list is sourced from a publication by the Uhlans  Regiment in Great Britain, London 1976.  The list was compiled by RTM, STEFAN KOMORNICKI who was the Regimental Adjutant from 1945-1945.  (Note: The list is currently in Polish only, and will be translated as time and resources permit.   You can refer to the accompanying translation document for the English version of terms used in the document. Polish diacritic letters were used in this list).   As the original scans were not clear and are made up of images instead of texts, so you may need to check each page for the name you are looking for.
