Franciszek
CHWILOWICZ

Franciszek Chwilowicz was born in Budzisław, Poland in on 27 September 1916.

 

When WW2 broke out, Franciszek was serving in the Polish Air Force in Poland and fought in the September Campaign.  He then made his way to France to join the Polish forces regrouping there.

Eventually evacuated to Great Britain, he served as a sergeant in the Polish Air Force in the UK. His service number was 782268.  He served in the 305 DB and the 307 DMN squadrons, and was awarded the Air Force medal 4 times.

After the war, Franciszek emigrated to Canada and married Anna in 1949. They raised a son and two daughters in Winnipeg, but sadly Anna passed away in 1987.  He worked as a carpenter in the Winnipeg area until his retirement.

Franciszek passed away in Winnipeg on 18 May 2013, at the age of 97.
