Edward JANCZYK
Edward was born in Dobron, Poland on 17 August 1920. He served in the September Campaign in Poland, then was capture4d by the Russians and sent to a POW camp in Siberia.
On release, he joined the Polish 2nd Corps and evacuated with the army to Persia. He trained in Persia, Iraq, Palestine, and Egypt, then set sail for Italy with the 2nd Corps. He fought in the Italian Campaign, including the battles of Monte Cassino, Bologna, and Ancona.
After the war he immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where he met and married his wife, Anna. Edward worked for Canada Packers for over 30 years.
Edward passed away in Winnipeg on 7 July 2018, at the age of 98 years. He was buried at the St. Mary's Polish National Cemetery in Winnipeg.
