
Kazimierz KUZDUB
Polish 2nd Corps
Kazimierz Kuzdub was born on 2 March 1916 in Marcinkow, Poland. In 1939 he was mobilized to join the Polish army and fight the invading Germans and Russians. It is unknown whether he was arrested by the Rusians and sent to Siberia, from where he later evacuated to Persia to join the Polish 2nd Corps. Or whether he evacuated to Romania when Poland fell and made his way to the Middle East.
There Kazimierz joined the Polish 2nd Corps and served with the Carpathian Lancers, fighting in the battle of Tobruk in North Africa and in the Italian Campaign., He was awarded many medals.
After the war he was stationed in England and then in 1947 immigrated to Canada on a two-year work contract. Kazimierz worked as a Lumberjack in Atikokan and then as a Car Man at the Canadian Pacific Railway Weston Shops in Winnipeg.
Kazimierz met and married Audrey in 1955 and they raised their four children (Stephen, Philip, Brian, and Sabdi) in Winnipeg. He belonged to the Polish Veterans Association Branch 13, where he spent many enjoyable Friday evenings playing bridge.
Kazimierz Kuzdub passed away on 12 April 2002 at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home in Winnipeg.
