Henryk WOJCIECHOWSKI
Henry was born to Aleksander and Anna on September 5, 1924, in Szczekociny, in western Poland.
Henry was forcibly conscripted into the German Army, but eventually escaped and switched to the Polish Army in Italy. He used the pseudonym Henryk Wilimowski when he joined the Polish 2nd Corps as a protection against the Germans learning his real name. Henry joined the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Brigade of the Polish 2nd Corps. He was a Corporal in the 2nd Battalion.
After the war he lived in France and then Germany and came to Canada with his family in 1955. Henry settled in Winnipeg and had five sons, eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Henry passed away in Winnipeg on February 5, 2015.
