Aleksander KUREC

Polish 2nd Corps

Aleksander was born in Eastern Poland (now Belarus) in 1923.

During the Second World War, Aleksander served in the Polish 2nd Corps under General Anders. He was extremely proud of his participation in the battle of Montecasino, Italy in 1944, where the Poles along with Allied Forces, won one of the fiercest battles of the war. He also fought in the battles of Ancona, Bologna, and Loretto.

After the war he settled in England, and, in 1957, emigrated to Canada and settled with his family in Winnipeg.

He married Maria, and had a son Tony and daughter Zina.

Aleksander worked at Motor Coach Industries for over 25 years and was a proud supporter of the New Democratic Party. For the past 4 years, Aleksander resided at Central Park Lodge - Parkview Place.

On 8 February 2001, Aleksander Kurec, passed away at the Central Park Lodge, at the age of 77
