Aloysius LIGON

Aloysius was born in Poland on July 31, 1925.

He served with the Polish 2nd Corps in the Italian Campaign, including the battles of Monte Cassino, Bologna, and Loreto.

 

In November 1946, he immigrated to Canada, sponsored by the Canadian Government with a commitment to work on a farm for two years.

 

Upon the completion of his contract, he, as a trained machinist, worked on construction, building various hydro-electric plants throughout Western Canada. Al was a supervisor for Griffin Steel Corp. until he relocated with Comstock Canada as a Millwright Superintendent until his retirement in 1988.

He was a member of the Polish Combatants Association Branch No. 13, and the Royal Canadian Legion, A. Mynarski V.C. Branch No. 34.

Aloysius passed away in Winnipeg on October 12, 2003.
